Default THREE AMAZING OLSONS UNDER CONSTRUCTION - An SJ, a Jumbo and a Dread!

I am posting the builds of three amazing Olson Guitars made by master craftsman James Olson of Circle Pines, MN for a good friend of mine. What amazing guitars this guys makes. Check out Olson guitars at www.olsonguitars.com. Will post pictures and things progress.

Specifications:
1. Brazilian SJ cutaway #1350, cedar top, antique gold tuners, custom partial vine inlays, partial vine on headstock, clear pickguard, inlaid "O" on the back and front of the headstock, headstock perimeter paua and fretboard perimeter paua, Brazilian rosewood on front and back of headstock, wide paua and Brazilian rosewood rosette, ebony bridge and fretboard, fossilized walrus ivory bridgepins, end pin and strap button. Rare Brazilian rosewood neck, one of only five in existence and rare museum piece of Brazilian rosewood for the back. Blue granite Calton carbon fiber case

2. Brazilian Jumbo cutaway, #1351, Adirondack spruce top, antique gold tuners, full vine inlay, partial vine on headstock, clear pickguard, inlaid "O" on the back and front of the headstock, headstock perimeter paua Brazilian rosewood on front and back of headstock, wide paua and Brazilian rosewood rosette, ebony bridge and fretboard, fossilized walrus ivory bridgepins, LR Baggs Anthem. "Special" Brazilian rosewood for the back. White Calton carbon fiber case with blue interior.

3. Tiger myrtle cutaway dread, #1355, rare heavy bearclaw spruce top, antique gold tuners, tiger myrtle on front and back of headstock, clear pickguard, inlaid "O" on the back and front of the headstock, headstock perimeter paua and fretboard perimeter paua. One of a kind ebony fretboard base with tiger myrtle paua bordered inset that will make up the majority of the fretboard (you will see a black ebony border then the paua then the tiger myrtle inside that), so it won't have any inlays for fret markers, double paua ring (one inner and one outer with Tiger Myrtle in the middle for the rosette, tiger myrtle bridge, fossilized walrus ivory bridgepins, LR Baggs Anthem. Orange and blue tie dye Calton carbon fiber case.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a picture of what the tiger myrtle will look like under finish:

Also the fretboard will be very similar to this one, except instead of snakewood, the insert will be tiger myrtle:

Default THREE AMAZING OLSONS UNDER CONSTRUCTION - An SJ, a Jumbo and a Dread!

I am from North Miami Beach but it doesn't really matter does it? I understand that Jim Olson is not only a Master Craftsman, but is a real pleasure to work with. I am amazed every time my hands have had the good fortune to play an Olson at how balanced and articulate they are. Maybe one day I will have one of my own. Until then.....

Keep the pics coming.

Proxy or not, you can never have too many olson build pics.

Especially the high dollar ones.

+1

BTW: The set for the jumbo was one of my favorites as well. I didn't choose it because of its lighter color, but the figure is quite cool.
