Glen23, Your builds are always very interesting in the directions you travel. For some reason, these fret markers really appeal to me. Can’t say I’m well read in the various techniques that are used, but I have not seen anything like this before. Looking forward to what comes next 🤗

Oh they are fret markers. I just thought they were there to look cool.

I’m assuming they are just because it would make sense. Hope I got this right, still they look cool no matter what ...

Glenn - fantastic build, thanks for sharing! I really like the fretboard flourishing that you came up with for the markers. The rest of the guitar looks very good, unconventional yet familiar and quite interesting. Looking forward to seeing more.

Mastergrade western red cedar braced and in place. An amazingly even and tight grained piece of wood! The bridge plate is a sandwich of red spruce and bubinga.
A three dimensional soundport to project all that sonic goodness from within. |

.. ... that in itself is a sculpture .. and a great picture, with the angle and perspective, the symmetry.... and thats not even talking about the cedar here... fantabulous |

Bet the sound emanating from that corner will be incredible. Very nice Glenn.

Thanks cigarfan! I'm a left leg player so that will situate the soundhole right over my heart. Something very appealing about that. |

It was an amazingly warm day for February, so I went to the wood pile to square up some spalted maple crotch for future dyeing. Also squared up some poplar burl. The green of the poplar is already saturated, without any dye infusion at all! Enough to trim five or six guitars here.

Taking a little time off from this build to to work on palettes for upcoming guitars. I have some spalted maple blocks ready for color too. They're always interesting because the spalt lines act as barriers to the dye so you get a stained window effect.
The future looks bright! |

Last of the burls out of vacuum. The color goes all the way through, so when you slice the block, and open it accordion style, you get long strips of sequential patterns, that will eventually wrap around the guitar like an expressionist brushstroke.

Those are some amazing burl colors you've got going on there!
