I have not seem Conor Oberst live, if that is what you mean. But his album "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning" is an acoustic gem. One of the best albums of the year. Simple/stark arrangements, passionate lyrics/vocals, and very, very nice melodies combine to make this a not-to-miss record.

I was quite obsessed with it for a while, playing it over and over. Learned a few songs from it (like I said, not difficult to play, from a guitarists point of view, but very passionate and beautiful).

Highlights include "First Day if My Life", "We Are Nowhere. Its Now", "Road to Joy", "Landlocked Blues". EmmyLo Harris does a few guest vocals.

I have not heard any other LP's, however. The Digital Ash one is supposed to bee electronica, or something. I'd steer clear. But definitly check out "Wide Awake". You won't be dissappointed.

"I'm Wide Awake and it's Morning" is awesome. If you like that you would love an earlier CD called "Lifted or the Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground". When I first heard it I was hooked. I still am.

Is "Lifted ..." an acoustic-driven album?

Only because you asked... I think he's average
The voice is average, the guitar - below average, the songs - average.

haven't seen him live. heard a tune on the radio once. saw him on the cover of ag recently. looked like he could really use a nice, well-balanced meal.
