Is that the same? Would be comforting to know that if the electronics crap out on you, you have a replacement.

I wonder if they're referring to an impact igniter for a Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb should the altitude ignition system fail along with a failure of the "reverb" system which is code for a failsafe backup altitude detonation function?

Jack, it sure looks almost the same but an actual built-for-Enya preamp may also be available from this company if needed. I hope I never have to find out, though.

Hmm. I know you think a lot of this guitar, but that might be overestimating its capabilities just a tad

Looks like they may have an update to the full sIze coming out as well. The Enya site says new coming in May and the pictures show a slightly different pickup control panel and the case looks like a different non gloss finish.

I gave my Enya X4 Pro AcousticPlus to my daughter so that leaves a hole that perhaps the new Enya x4 Pro AcousticPlus may fill ...

What happened to your love affair with this guitar? You gave it away?

Still Lovin' It, Jack! I once gave my daughter a Classic Series RainSong WS1000 but she didn't bond with it. She says she likes the Enya as it's a better size fit for her. Come to think of it, I also gave her a Martin Special D Mahogany, a Taylor 322ce, a Larrivee D-40 Mahogany, and an Avian Skylark 2A, and they all came back. In addition to the Enya, she also now has my Bart Reiter Regent Whyte Laydie 5-string Banjo. I wonder what she has in store for me next ...

I ordered one of the 36" Mini's out of curiosity as the 24" scale caught my interest. I've owned GS Mini's and a McPherson Touring in the past. The GS Mini has never pleased my ear and I was never able to make the Touring's short scale work with my preferred standard D tuning even with mediums. I was curious to see if the 24" scale made a difference, but fully expected to promptly return it since the specs list it as a 1-5/8" nut. It arrived today and it sounds very good at first blush and very reminiscent of the Touring.

* I was surprised to see the width at the zero fret is actually 1-23/32".
* String spacing at the nut is 1.44" out to out.
* String spacing at the bridge is 2.178".
* It has a zero fret, which the larger 41" X4 Pro does not appear to have.
* The scale isn't actually 24" as stated. Measurement from the center of the zero fret to the center of the 12th fret is actually 11 27/32". Times two equals a scale length of 23.6875"
* Neck is a D shape profile.
* The hard case is pretty nice.
* Documentation lists the preamp system as a Double S4.

I haven't had a chance to play at length but look forward to doing so. I'm much more interested in it with the larger nut size and the decent tone.

Thanks for the review. What is the weight like on it? As to the zero fret the pictures for the mini on Enya website don't show there either. Who knows maybe the new pro has it too?

The website does show a zero fret, but it's deceptive looking. The black "nut" is actually integrated into the neck.

Weight is 4.8 lbs or just shy of 4 lbs 13 oz. Tone is decent for what it is. Would make a great travel/camping guitar. I like the scale length over the Touring. I want to get my hands on the full size at this point.

They changed the case from the glossy finish to a faux CF material.

I really like my X4 Pro. But I think the case change will be a positive. The shiny thing mine came in looks cool, but it's not a great case and scratches super easily. That said, it works fine and does its job.
