Default Maybe a stupid question.. MP touring pitch.

Is a McPherson touring guitar tuned to standard E (concert pitch?).. I can’t seem to figure that out and I have no access to one.

Yes it is. Tuned standard to A440 with medium gauge Elixirs. Fun sized, fun to play, and easily one of the best sounding CF guitars I’ve played. The sound coming out of them baffles the mind.

Yes, it is. It is a short scale (22 3/4"), but is tuned E-E.

Oops: on edit, I see that Steelvibe answered it while I was typing.

Oh now you just had to go and say that didn't you ? Just when I thought GAS was gone.

Hadn't really paid much attention to the Touring. Heartbreaker sure likes them:

How would you compare it (sound wise) to your OF660?

Hmmm… it has been awhile but I’ll try. The Touring and OF660 are similar in that they are both balanced overall. I give the Touring an edge in that it is louder and has better treble response. I know that most look for more bass, but both of these guitars have bass that belie their sizes. I play a lot of fingerstyle where melodies are often prominent on the treble side. The OF660 could do better here to my ears. The Touring is nice and punchy and reminds me more of an all-solid wooden parlor (maybe because it is braced). I mean, you have some good headphones? Just listen to Juan wail on that thing. They do sound fantastic!

It is also worth noting I’m talking about the newest version, not the Kevin Michael branded guitars. I think McPherson improved them from the earlier iteration (even though those sounded nice too).

The boy can play! Lovely balance on that small guitar.

You bring up a great point Captain Jim, that it is a small guitar. Typically if you hit a small guitar like that they really break up, or sound otherwise imbalanced. While the Touring still has small guitar syndrome, it holds up pretty well. Amazing headroom!

For comparison, my X7 (previous generation) has great tone and balance. And it says, "Let's go!" when I play it harder. I felt the same way about the Touring, when I played it and the Sable at the same time.
