Default New Original - "Separate"

A new original song inspired by current events. Recorded with a Taylor 317e in EADGAD, an Apogee MiC 96k, and GarageBand. I hope you enjoy it.

Sounds really good, Jeremy. I like the animation of the lyrics too.

Your voice sounds like somewhere in between Michael Stipe and Billy Corgan. Really dig it. Especially those vocal harmonies past the 3 minute part.

Hey Jeremy. A very appealing melody, nice playing and you have a unique vocal tone. I enjoyed listening. I agree that the video backdrop is really cool. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I've heard the comparison to Michael Stipe before. I don't really hear it, but then my voice sounds different to me than it does to others.

Thanks for listening.

Yes I say your low-mid range is similar to him, and then on your higher range you have this almost haunting tone that reminds me of Corgan. Not sure how you feel about him but I promise it’s a compliment. [emoji4]

Very nice.

One comment about the lyrics. I'd like to see it "go somewhere." It describes the emotional situation well. But I'd like some storyline. Who are these people? What did they have? What have they lost? What happens next?

Just suggestions. You've created a very nice sonic song. Evocative of the tension the protagonist feels.

Thank you for listening and your comments. As for your questions about the lyrics, I wrote this to reflect the uncertainties of the current pandemic and it was inspired by stories I'd read/heard about people missing out on family, friends, loved ones due to social/physical distancing. As such there was some purposeful ambiguity in it - even though the lyric video shows lovers parting, it was meant to be more than about that, so I generalized a bit.

Thanks again.

Hi Jeremy!

Very well done! Good song! And I like your arrangement. I really think the way you worked out your display is very cool. I'd be very curious to know how you put that video display together. That was really fascinating!

Awesome Jeremy!
