Thanks Cigarfan, I’m glad that Tree Penelope has a happy home.
My first thought on satin for the neck was “that isn’t a difficult thing to apply”. But, on second thought, that sunburst colored neck is gorgeous and goes so well with the overall look. Satinizing the neck wound dull the look.

I don’t recall the equation for the bending moment of a beam but adding height increases the strength by a much greater factor than the width.
Overall mass may be equivalent, but you have a stronger beam for a given mass.

Very interesting. I need to go dig out an engineering text or two. It’s only been 30 years since school.

Thanks for the look under the hood.
Thanks for commenting Skarsaune, Yes, that is partly why the braces are profiled that way.

Thanks Paul! Yeah, the idea behind not having places for things to pile up makes organizing the path of least resistance

Default Strings On

I strung up this Josie small jumbo yesterday and will keep it for about a week before sending out to Doug. I start with a dummy Maple saddle and come back with intonated bone after the strings and the guitar settle in together a bit:

Even with the dummy saddle and being just strung up this guitar sounds great. I've been fine tuning my midrange response during the voicing sessions and that is paying off well. Of course, this having an absolutely fantastic Spruce top doesn't hurt either!
I'll try to get a recording together next week.

Thanks for following!

Love everything about this guitar Mark ... the inlay on the back of the neck and that gorgeous patina on the back and sides are highlights for me ... love it!

Thanks for stopping in David. That Fiddleback Tree wood is beautiful stuff and easier to work with than I expected.

Thanks Stan, It came together nicely. I just sent pictures out to Charlie to try to lure him over to do some recording next week before I ship it off.

Thanks everyone! Here are a couple more picks that include the tweed case this one is getting:

Hi Lonzo, I asked Mark to special order the tweed Cedar Creek case at the time we were discussing the materials and specs for this build. His pictures confirm to me that it was a good choice and complements the tone woods he selected for this "perfect pairings" offering which I will have in hand soon.

Hi Doug... well done...it really is a very elegant match... with a Scott Joplin "Entertainer" style and vibe to it!

Default Sound Clip for Josie

Here is a sound clip for my recently completed Josie small jumbo. Charlie Chronopoulos is doing a series of short samples to show different aspects of the guitars sound on this unedited recording.

Bammmm ! Voluminous, vulptuous, reverby, engulfing, resonant... if I only could describe sound adequately.. jumboesque ?

Thanks for sharing the sound sample, it matches the looks !

Thanks Lonzo! I am very happy with the sound of this guitar. In particular I’ve been trying to tweet the midrange response on my Josie small jumbo model and feel I’m having success!
