Default Decided to Build a Rack Case

Hey guys,

I've changed my live setup so that I process everything I'm doing with my Presonus Firestudio/Logic on my Macbook pro. It's gotten really old having to carry my presonus around by itself and I'm always afraid I'm going to damage it. With the christmas season around I thought about buying a rack case but I simply didn't want to pay 2 or 300 dollars for an, in my opinion, ugly looking case. So while I'm home for the holidays I decided to do some bonding with my father and build one!

We're 1 day in (a lot of gluing had to be done, so we didn't finish much the first day) and probably going to finish this evening.

I'll post pics as I go:

I'm going to stain it a nice "Old American" when I'm finished.
Here's the original piece of Oak plywood (the birch was pretty ugly, unfortunately):

And the aluminum we used to make the rails:

The (nearly, they were too long) completed rails:

Getting the size for the box:

I still need to fill in the chips with wood filler, finish it and put some handles on.

That was a question I had myself and to be honest, I'm not sure. The presonus puts out no heat but the power "conditioner" does put out some. We'll see I guess? It's partially why I haven't finished it yet. I want to test it out a bit.

Maybe just a few holes drilled into the top would handle it if needed..

Yeah possibly. I'd have to switch the conditioner and the presonus if I did that which wouldn't be a problem. Might cut some slots in the side next the the conditioner.

Thanks, guys. Doesn't weigh much and it's more spacious than the racks my school uses.
