Default Going to the Dark Side: I Now Love Round-Shouldered Dreads Best!

I know, I know, it's sacrilege -- especially where I live, here in SoCal.

I was raised by Martin Nazis, in the backyard of CSNY and Joni Mitchell. Dude, I didn't even KNOW Gibson made flattops till about 15 years; that's how stupid I am. And here I am, all these years later, having forsaken and renounced the square-shoulder propagandists all around me. Having seen -- finally and forever -- the light (er, dark).

Dare I share my secret? Dare you share yours?

I never played a Gibson acoustic in the 8 1/2 years I've been playing until NOW! I recently bought a walnut burst J-15, WOW what a great sounding and playing guitar!

I have always really liked the slope shoulder shape much better than the square shoulder.

Best,
Jayne

Was born into square H-birds and Guilds... but like many sons took a different path. Sloped Gibbys have been calling me for 35 years.

My secret is I bought a new Martin DSS-15m mahogany slope. After gigging it last night I’m afraid to admit I like it more than guitars I have costing well over twice the price...

Thumbs up on the slopes.

There’s a DSS-17 out there just waiting for you to fall in love with it.

You won’t be able to resist.

+1 DSS-17 (tone, anyway). THIS guitar is unreal, especially for the price.

This seems to be the Year of the Slope, and Martin’s back in the pool. That said, once I went to the 12-fret slope Martin dread, there was no way I was turning back. It’s just too much to walk away from once you’ve had one in your hands; nothing else comes close.

Oh be still my beating heart......J-15 walnut bursts are gorgeous. Two stores in the area have one each and they are drool worthy, sound great as well.

Here are a few slopes (first two released this year) that the player seems smitten with. I’m eager to play the Gibson but can attest that the Martins are killer...

One of the reasons I love my Bourgeois so much! Such an awesome body shape.

I haven’t really had GAS since I bought my J15 last fall.

Fortunately, I got one of those "good" J45's. Slope Shoulders, short scale, performs well with vocals...done!
The D18 has been relegated to the #2 slot.
