Default Gibson J50 and Eastman E10SS

This is a quick comparison of two guitars I own. I don't say "vs", because its not really a contest. I like them both. The Eastman is about half the price of the Gibson but that doesn't matter to me. I figure both new and used, The Gibson costs out at about twice the Eastman. I will say that every Gibson I bought had excellent quality control - fit finish neck etc. While this Eastman has all that, I have had some prior, and played ones I didnt own, which I could not say the same thing about. However this Eastman is spot-on in all those departments.

I find the J50 Jangly, more trebles, and more crisp. I find the Eastman "thicker", "fat", and more bass.

When I play them I don't hear them how I do when I playback this video. I think the Eastman sounds much better in person. It does have an Adi top, and it is only months old, so it hasn't opened up yet - or so I am told.

Forgive the sloppy playing. I am too lazy to perfect it today.

Thanks for that comparison, good job.
Part of the difference is the Spruce vs. Addy.
I have an Eastman E 6 OM with Sitka/ Mahogany and it is jangly like your Gibby albeit obviously not the same in terms of volume or bass. I also have an Eastman 00 Addy and Mahogany which sounds like the E 10 in your video in miniature.
Personally, I liked the Eastman, it growled more in the bass, the mids had punch and the notes were woody.
I am a huge fan of Eastman's Addy Tops.

That's something, Missal. The copy sounds so much more full and big. The Gibson sounds so much like a Gibson.

Where does your Farida fall in with these two?

I agree with you... the Gibson has higher frequencies in comparison with the Eastman, which sounds warmer to my ears. Thanks.

Nice job, buddy. The J 50 sounds exactly like a Gibson ought to (to me). The Eastman sounds warmer--it's definitely a fine-sounding guitar.

I've been very impressed by Eastmans. If I had the room and cash for "just one more," I'd buy one of their all mahogany 00s.

They both sound nice, yet very different. You're fortunate to have them. Thanks for sharing the comparison video.
