Default What's the strangest thing to ever show up at your front door?

What's the strangest thing to ever show up at your front door?

These P birds showed up at our place and have become regular visitors. The hen (hidden) is on the ground eating.
There is speculation the pair is from the Palos Verde flock, they are very calm around people and will come within a couple of feet of a person, almost eating food out of your hand.

They've quickly become beloved guest in the neighborhood drawing a small crowd wherever they happen to show up.

If we're talkin' critters
Perhaps not so much "strange" as interesting and a bit different

My accounting was incomplete does that count as lying by omission

Red tail hawk owned the sky above my last hillside home. Beautiful to watch in flight. I kept my cats indoors.

Hey KevWind
Well I guess the “Cat’s outta the bag” on this one, think I would leave it that way too!

Looks as if it is waiting for some Meow Mix

I think I’d chalk that up to better judgement. 😂

At midnight one night, I heard the mailbox clatter (next to the front door), stepped out and retrieved 500$ in Benjamins from the box. We lived in a sketchy neighborhood at that time so I figured it was dope money. I held it for a week unclaimed, then considered it mine.

Kev,
I see you have your own wildlife 'petting' farm there! Eddy, the Elk, had a lot of companions!

Just have to ask, did you take the photo of the cougar with a telephoto lens or did you just walk up and ask "Mind if I take a picture?"?

not at the front door, but i had a frog come up thru the sewer system and end up in my shower. took me 1/2hr. to catch it and release it outside. and, this was at 330 in the am.

secondly, i've twice had 20+ turkey buzzards in the field behind me having lunch of something. huge, ugly things! pretty cool tho when they fly away in a circular pattern together.

play music!

Wen I was in the road band years ago, a woman wearing nothing but a raincoat showed up at our hotel room door, but that is the only part of the story that is relevant to this thread. In a sense, I would consider that some form of "wildlife". I have no photographs to prove it, but wouldn't show them anyway due to forum rules. I would bet there are a bunch of us here that could fill a book with tales of the road.

Yes our location is a wildlife heaven actually on the Southern most timbered ridge connecting the four major mountain ranges in Southern Yellowstone ecosystem and is major wildlife transition corridor

Ha! Yes that is with an 80 to 200 Zoom I am standing just outside the main garage door at the side ... and the wall behind Kitty Kitty, is the back of the garage, say 25 ft. I did however study her reactions pretty closely as I eased around the front of the garage to get the shot. And I did talk to her calmly and tell her I just wanted a picture (while obviously the words have no meaning to her) I learned from 25 years of starting young horses under saddle, that making sure your body language clearly indicates no malice of intent, is helped by clearly vocalizing the intention . Even if it only helps you focus and not give off unintended body signals

here are some more

Even though I lived in the middle of the city, I came home to a chicken in our flowerbed one evening. But probably the strangest thing to show up at my front door was a one-legged woman asking for a ride back to her apartment. She claimed she'd gotten into an argument with her friend and the friend kicked her out of the car. We had company over that evening so I told her I couldn't help her. She started walking across our lawn when a couple of cop cars turned the corner and came to a screeching halt. They cuffed her and took her away. I've always wondered what the real story was. lol
