Anybody have any board game suggestions to offer up? I’ve about had it with Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble....and it’s going to be a long Winter.

My family always got a kick out of Balderdash.

When it's just me and my wife, we play Risk.

My family always enjoyed chess. I guess checkers and backgammon would be a couple others.

Do you need the board? How 'bout an old-fashioned deck of cards? Spades, hearts, poker, rummy, etc.

We've enjoyed Carcaconne and Settlers of Catan recently. If you're OK with adult humor then Cards Against Humanity can be fun (but make sure the kids are in bed).

Codenames is a blast and is cheap!

https://www.amazon.com/Czech-Games-0.../dp/B014Q1XX9S

Sequence is another one we have fun with.

https://www.amazon.com/Jax-8002-Sequ.../dp/B00000IVAK

You can get both of them for $25 if you're an Amazon Prime member.

One of my sons is a game fanatic and brings over his favorites when he visits.

Ticket to Ride is one we actually bought to have around, it's probably my favorite. On the pricey side. There are other versions and it's quite popular.

Other games are a blast after you learn them but lots of folks aren't interested in games that can get complicated. Of those, Dominion is a staple ... multiple versions plus expansion packs ... it can turn into a pricey habit.

My wife and I got married later in life and didn't really need anything so Cards Against Humanity was on our wedding registry list.

I think Apples to Apples is about the same game but G-rated version.

Ethnos (Multiple player game, but is very fun played with 2 people)
Clank
Dice Forge
Azul

My mid 20's son keeps introducing us to new games. All above are very entertaining and fun to play.

Settlers of Catan and Carcasonne mentioned above are great games as well.

Not a board game, but I used to love playing Phase 10 back before all my friends and I started having kids and never seeing each other.

My favorite card game to play with the kids is called "Spot It."

I'm easily bored with shake the dice, spin the wheel games! The last commercial game I liked was "Mastermind"!

Old school - Clue, Scrabble (I don't know how Scrabble can get old. It's like crossword puzzles - it changes every draw.)
New school - Kingdom Builder

"Risk" appeals to the megalomaniac in all of us. My mild mannered buddy would morph into full on dictator mode when we would play. I never really liked the game that much.

I'll second Codenames and Catan. Catan also has expansion packs which make it very re-playable.

We've been revisiting Clue lately—it's probably our go-to board game more than any other.

We got bored with Phase 10. Every game lasts 3 hours, so we'd prepare enough snacks to last that long....but they never did. We got to the point of "Whoever's in the lead when the snacks run out is the one who wins".

If you have a computer with a large enough screen, or one that can easily mirror to your TV, you should really check out Jackbox Games. There's 5 Party Packs currently, and they're all excellent. Most of our family game time is spent playing these games nowadays.
