New Gear (Need help!) - m101, R-10
Hey AGF friends,
With some holiday sales, I made the plunge for some (expensive to me) gear to begin recording at home. I got a good preamp (Grace Design m101) and a good mic (Royer R-10), but I need YOUR help deciding on an interface (ideally under $350 ... I know that's limiting.) Do you guys know of a USB interface that has line inputs so that I can go mic-> preamp-> interface, bypassing the interface preamp? Second note ... Balanced TRS out from the preamp, into Line level on an interface is the correct way, right? Nothing will blow up if I use that path? Again, very new to this ... any and all of my knowledge comes from Youtube or helpful friends. Any pointers you can comment would be huge!!

Thanks!
Thank you for the pointers ...
As it stands, signal chain is Guitar - Royer - Grace m101 (into the Line Input 5 of..) - Steinberg UR44. I installed Steinberg's free Cubase AI and am having the worst time figuring it out; on the flipside, I downloaded Ableton Lite and within ten minutes or so, I had a pretty decent track coming along. Cubase must just be above my brain power...
