Currently Off the Market - Montuoro Model 212 Brutus Dreadnaught - 2018
I am the original owner of this wonderful Frankie Montuoro guitar, commissioning it in 2018. It is the first guitar listed on Frankie's website at Montuoro Guitar Co. Frankie is a well known and brilliant luthier that specializes in Larson style and vintage Martin style guitars. $5500 plus $145 shipping. No trades. The pictures below are my own. Pictures also are available on Frankie's website. FYI, the photos on Frankie's website are of professional quality and best show the color and texture of the guitar.
Here is Frankies description from the website: The idea for the BRUTUS came about in 09. I was wanting to build a larger body instrument that would incorporate some of the features not normally seen on this particular body size and style. Most notable would be the body depth, which is just shy of 4 5/8" deep at the lower bout. Built entirely "under tension," at the same time utilizing a shorter scale length to cut back on the harsh poignant nature of tone that can be found with the CHICAGO style guitars. Extremely light in weight, the BRUTUS weights only 3 pounds 10 ounces. This guitar can easily be considered a larger, more robust OM or a more articulate Dreadnaught. Specifications include: Red Spruce Soundboard Honduran Mahogany back & sides Red Spruce bracing Scalloped X Brace Non-scalloped, non-parallel tone bars Steel T-bar neck reinforcement 1 3/4" nut width 25.34" scale length 6 x 1 straight ebony bridge 2 3/8" bridge spacing Bone saddle Ebony nut Ebony bridge and end pins Ebony heel cap Ebony fingerboard 14 frets to the body, 20 frets total (no fingerboard face markers) This is a wonderful guitar that is, indeed, quite articulate for a dreadnaught style guitar. It is excellent for both finger-picking and flat picking, with low action. I don't think of it as a strictly bluegrass style guitar, and the action might be a bit low for an aggressive picker. But it's great for finger style and all around play. Frankie built the guitar to look and play like a vintage guitar, so it's not pristine in appearance. It looks just like the day it left Frankie's shop. I hope I don't regret selling this guitar. But I need to downsize, and I also have a Montuoro Euphonon that I love. Please contact me with any questions. Shipped to 48 states only. Returns only if the guitar is not as described. The guitar is also listed locally. Last edited by wlm50; 08-30-2022 at 02:18 PM. Wow. I didn't expect to see this in the classifieds today. Best of luck with the sale, because I'm sure this one is going to make the buyer very very happy.

Thanks for the comment "cc132." These guitars don't come up very often. And this is quite a special build. Hopefully, it will find a good home. I have a couple of interested parties, so we will see!

I have a couple of interested parties who have PM'd me. But the Montuoro is still available. Montuoro guitars are pretty rare to find for sale and are generally priced higher than this guitar. I think I've priced it rather aggressively in hopes of finding a new owner who will bond with it and play it daily.

Man, there are some nice guitars for sale on the AGF right now and this Montuoro dread has to be up there among the best of them. If I was not flush with dread-sized guitars I'd be on my way to try this one out. Just cannot part with what I already own.
Great price for guitar from a maker whose work does not come up for sale very often.

This Montuoro was sold on Saturday - and then it wasn’t. The buyer had a medical issue come up suddenly. Hopefully, everyone is ok and all will be well. For now the guitar remains available.

I have three forum members interested in the Montuoro, but none are immediately prepared to purchase it. I think I'll leave this listing up for a couple of more days to see if others are considering it. If not, I'll take the listing down and wait a bit. I have another guitar that I will be listing soon - a Santa Cruz H Model with cutaway.
Thanks! |

While I'm waiting to see if one of the three interested parties purchases the Montuoro guitar, I'm taking it off the active market. However, if interested, feel free to contact me by PM to see if it is still available. Thanks!
