Longtime baseball fan, lots of early memories of sitting around with the old guys, or just my dad listening to the likes of Jack Buck, Curt Gowdy, Garagiola. You get to feel like you know these guys, personally. Mr. Scully was one of the ones who made you feel right at home from the outset. Couldn't help but like him. My opinion is that lots of people can announce a ball game, but the really good ones have the feel for it, that the others don't. The great ones, Mr. Scully for sure, have figured out when nothing needs to be said. A bit like guitar players who understand that the spaces in between the notes matter. He'll be missed.
