LOL. Work kept me busy on the road for 25 years, almost always to the US, some years as a US resident (like Columbus). Columbus was a great place to live. Mild winters, nice summers, only a couple of hours to see a MLB/NFL game (Cincinnati)... and a new NHL team!

Big change in Calgary next year with first Gaudreau gone and now Matthew Tkachuk. They finished #2 and #8 in league scoring this year and #1 and #3 in Plus/Minus.

But... Jonathan Huberdeau acquired in the Tkachuk trade is huge!

Big edge to Panthers, who were able to sign Tkaczuk to a long-term that will have him through his prime at roughly 10M/yr. Tkaczuk is only 24, Huberdeau 29 and free agent after the coming season. But considering Tkaczuk wanted out of Calgary the Flames got back a decent haul by NHL standards with the addition of Weegar and a #1.

Jesper Bratt and the Devils avoid arbitration and agree on a one year deal.... not ideal but he will be playing his *** off for a big contract next year

Bratt had somewhat of a breakout year. Good young team here in Jersey.

Those jersey's were sweet! As a kid and huge hockey fan, I collected many jerseys, I still have this one.

I am a Flyers fan I was hoping the would sell the team or at least fire Fletcher. I am not the typical Philly sports fan though, I believe I have more common sense The Flyers are an embarrassment, I stopped watching them in December, I despise the front office, they are a joke. I don't think signing Gaudreau at the price he got would have been a smart decision for the Flyers, so I am not upset about that.

This season isn't looking too promising for the orange and black, smh.

Still waiting to see where Kadri ends up. Given that he hasn't signed yet means his asking price is too high. There are rumors about the Islanders now.

Patrice Bergeron still hasn't confirmed he's playing next year.

Somewhere in my pile of NHL memorabilia that I gave my son this year was a Devils sweater emblem in the original colors and a Martin Brodeur rookie card. Stayed a fan when they moved from here to my native New Jersey.

And yes, the reservations expressed here about giving Kadri a long term contract are valid ... you can bet the folks responsible for paying the $ are thinking the same things.

I'd love to have him back in CO at the right price. I suppose that's still a slight possibility but MacKinnon's contract coming up next year looms large.

I can see MacKinnon getting over $10-12M per year on his next contract. He should get the max 8 years too in CO.

Bergeron and Krejci are back with the Bruins next season! Both signed a 1 year deal. Bergeron's contract is only $2.5M with up to another $2.5M in incentives. He could have made far more guaranteed elsewhere but I'm glad he stuck with the Bruins.

Even with Krejci's return I still don't see a 2C on that team unless Zacha can bloom in his new environment....

Nathan MacKinnon's Halifax Stanley Cup parade route and date were announced today. It's Sat, Aug 20. In addition to being born there, he played QMJHL junior hockey there too leading Halifax to the Canadian Memorial Cup win.
