I'm in South West Indiana and I have an X7, X10 Slim and an X7 12. I would certainly welcome forum members who want to try one out.

I live in Madison WI - and I have a Rainsong Shorty and an Emerald X7 that's so old it was made before the soundhole migrated to the side.

Default There might a dealer nearby

Hi all

These are some lists of authorized dealers.

Since the market for carbon fibre guitars is tiny, local dealers may or may not have some guitars in stock.

We should post about dealers who often carry stock. Some are worth road trips.

A few dealers might agree, if coaxed, to contact you about trying guitars that arrive pre-sold for shipment to other customers.

Ted is an experienced dealer for most carbon fibre guitar makers. He is responsive to calls and ships anywhere. He has the largest sales and in-stock inventory.

Default Is there an Emerald in Albuquerque to Try?

I am wondering what it is like to play a CF guitar? I’ve been encouraged by a friend that lives far away to try an Emerald x20 or x30.
I am wondering if there is anyone in or near Albuquerque that might let me try one.

Question Looking for Emerald Balor bass

Is there anyone within about an hour of the Philly area with an Emerald Balor bass that would let me check it out? I'm intrigued by the instrument, but not enough to buy one without trying it out. Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can say, is that they "can" have a very crystalline sound. The low end is definitely not a warm thump, but more of a crystalline tone to it. Not bad, just different.

I’m glad you said ‘can’.

Of course, everyone’s perceptions are different, and we all use different descriptive terms to try to describe what we’re hearing - but I’ve not experienced anything remotely approaching ‘crystalline’ from either of my Emerald guitars.

The Amicus is a different story, of course - and, as others have noted, CF guitars do seem to be more sensitive to string choice than their wooden counterparts.

I hope that ABQ_John is able to find some examples to play locally, and make up his own mind.

Since John is in Albuquerque, maybe his local Guitar Center would have a RainSong in stock? If so, it would give him an idea of what one brand of carbon fiber guitars sound like. I had a RainSong Shorty at the same time as two of my Emeralds, and the Emeralds were a much warmer tone. I eventually sold that RainSong, but still have the Emeralds. Comparing the RainSong, the Emerald X20, and a Taylor 814, the Emerald was more similar to the Taylor than the RainSong, to my ears. (just to give John some perspective)

I agree with that. My X30 has a much more thunk to the low end. My RainSong has a more crystallin sound.
