Default What Classic 1970's composition will endure the most time?

By no means a definitive list because there are so many great from the era.

Although it's not my favourite my vote would go with Bowie's Starman to do endure the most years, because like Yesterday it's instantly hummable.

I grew up musically in the 70s and I don't even recall some of the suggested tunes, and of those I know I don't find them that appealing. There's just too much choice from the decade.

Yes, it's really refelctive of personal taste, otherwise the list would have run to a 100, although I forgot to put my all time favourite from that decade 'Rhinestone Cowboy'.

Nevertheless they are mostly pretty mainstream acts that are all still played frequently today.

Starman is by far my fave on the list, but I voted for Stairway to Heaven just because it'll never go away.

My personal favorite is "Won't Get Fooled Again" but I think "Hotel California" is the one that will age the best.

I went with "Lola" cause it's the kind of fun/novelty song that sticks around.

My thoughts too, though Stairway runs a close second.

It's, certainly, the one that will most stand up to MUZAK treatment.

Stairway. Tough to choose against Hotel California though since they're both epic classics.

It's a toss-up between Yes - Roundabout (from Fragile in 1972) and King Crimson - Starless (from Red in 1974) for me.

In other words, none of the above

Without a doubt, Hotel California. As a guitar player I would be tempted to say Stairway but really that song was barred from music stores 30 years ago. Many young people I’ve played for have always perked up when I play Hotel California. None of the others even enter the discussion.
