Default RIP Harry Harrison

A broadcasting legend and fixture on NYC radio over his 44-year career, the only DJ ever to work for WMCA, WABC, and WCBS-FM, and if you grew up in the Tri-State area from 1960 on his mellow voice and classy style (a marked contrast to the more frenetic personas of "Murray the K" Kaufman and "Cousin Bruce" Morrow, or the edgier delivery and double-entendres of Dan Ingram) was the soundtrack of your life...

Farewell, "Morning Mayor"...

Once again, a minor amount of detail for such a huge figure in broadcasting. Here's the rest (or at least some more) of the story...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Harrison_(DJ)

R.I.P. HH, you'll be both missed and remembered by millions.

XM 60s on 6 still has Cousin Brucie on in the early evenings. However, the real star of the channel is 'Phlash Phelps' who does the morning show. He does an incredible job of emulating 1960s radio.

There is a PBS documentary about 60's radio called 'Airplay' - unfortunately, I have not been able to find it with any of my streaming services.

I too grew up listening to 60s DJs from Hartford, Connecticut and then later at night, the DJs of WABC, WNBC, and WKBW (Buffalo). I even got to meet Jean Shepherd (WOR) (A Christmas Story) and watch him film a promotional documentary for ham radio. It was an amazing time and an amazing phenomena to be a part of.

Agreed - didn't want to cut-&-paste the whole piece - but FYI you've got a bad link which I'll correct here:

That movie was from 2008 and didn't make a whole lot of money so no surprise the streaming services aren't carrying it. You can however buy a copy on Amazon for about $25.
