Playing and Learning..New Equipment
Well, I got a Focusrite 2i2 3rd Gen, JBL 104 Monitors and a Blue Ember Mic for Xmas.
It's eye-opening on how well this setup sounds over a Cheap USB Micro. I'm learning the DAW's I have, Mainly BandLab Cakewalk and Reaper I just did s Recording with the Blue Ember and MXL V250 and it sounds great! The V250 has more bottom then the Ember but the Ember has more sparkle... More to come

I think it's good to play with a few different DAWs to get a feel for how they compare to each other. I use Reaper exclusively, but you have to consider the higher learning curve for it's versatility. There's something to be said for a DAW that has less bells & whistles but is easy to operate with a much lower learning curve.
I used to use Mackie Traction and loved the "everything on one screen" concept. The earlier version was free and had the very nice Acuma mastering plug built in, but I couldn't use it when I upgraded my PC, so decided to use Reaper.
