Default volume pedal..buffered or not?

I need a volume pedal for upcoming acoustic gigs. I looked up the "top 10" and all that and have settled on a BOSS Volume Pedal (FV-500H). But I also hear about "tone suck" and see that they make a pedal with a "buffer" to prevent that...Do I really need that or is it hype?

The "Tone Suck" you hear on volume pedals depend on the placement. The "H" designation on the volume pedal basically means its good for use with high impedance instrument /active pickup. It should work fine.
