Jeff Beck with Nils Lofgren in Phoenix
Totally blown away by him and his band. I have probably seen him more than any other. He is flawless and can play better that 40 years ago. His band was so tight and consummate professionals. Every time I hear him play Big Block it just gets better. With Vinnie, Rhonda, and a fabulous cellist it’s a must see.
The opening solo acoustic act was Nils Lofgren who was fantastic.

How I wish JB would show up somewhere remotely close- by.
Agree that his playing is constantly evolving, he still has that drive to explore and expand his formidable repertoire. Luck you !

I've seen Nils Lofgren numerous times over the years, going back to when he still did the famous flip, quite a sight! He really is a great performer.

Thanks for that report, Lodgy. I've not seen Jeff Beck live, but would dearly love to.
Nils lives in Scottsdale, and I seen him quoted as saying Jeff is his favorite living guitar player. This must have been a special show for him, on home turf and opening for a hero. Did they play together at all? I'll be seeing Nils again for the for the umpteenth time in September, and he remains a favorite after 40 plus years. I got into him as an electric player, but his show is mostly acoustic these days. He plays both electric and acoustic with a thumb pick and fingers. Influences include Hendrix, Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton and Chet. He flies under the radar as a solo artist, with a small but very loyal fan base. Glad you enjoyed the show!
