But I agree, the Twin is not what you want. Great amps but they weigh a ton and really have way too much power.
Thanks, that was my point. Today you can get great tone in a small package thats easy to transport. Need more? go thru the PA.

Thanks to all for the great suggestions! I'll definitely give the Deluxe Reverb and Bugera V22 a try and go from there.

I'd look at the Katana stuff. Really good value for the money and LOUD. I like the idea of a Princeton, but I would worry about clean headroom. If you are into modeling, the v2 Fender Mustang GT stuff looks promising.

Hmm. I always thought it was the 65 Princeton Reverb or reissue.

I have 2 vintage Deluxe Reverbs and 2 vintage Princeton Reverbs and I can gig with any of them for the average bar gig. With an efficient speaker a PR is a perfect grab and go amp. I have a 12" Eminence Red Fang alnico in my 1969 PR and it is glorious and loud enough for complaints from the bass player! For $500 or less a used Hot Rod Deluxe is a great amp, and the Peavey Classic 30 or Delta Blues amps are fabulous also.

I can vouch for the Hot Rod. I have a USA made DeVille 410. I paid around 500 used. The clean channel and the reverb is very nice. It has a an overdrive channel that is pretty good too. But this amp is only a couple of pounds lighter then than the Twin Reverb I used to own. You might find a Hot Rod Deluxe 3 more to taste. It has a single 12" speaker.

Last year my Lady Love bought me a Fender Champion 100W for my Birthday,I`m still in Love with them both. Sounds as good as my old Deluxe Reverb!.
