Default Froggy Bottom or other high end OM / 000 or Small Jumbo - Found one.

Hey All,

I'm reworking this post to reflect other makers - not just Froggy Bottom. Ultimately, I'm looking for a really good 00 / OM / 000 / 0000 / Small Jumbo size guitar.

I'm interested in fingerstyle gems (I just reluctantly returned a Froggy H12) but also more all-rounders. I'm not interested in Dreds, or other guitars braced so heavily that they need to be beat on with a pick in order to sound good. I'm definitely looking for guitars on the lighter and more responsive end of the spectrum.

I'm interested in guitars from both small shops such as Froggy Bottom, Santa Cruz, etc, and also single luthiers. I'd love to try a Circa, Claxton, Sexauer etc too.

Most importantly the guitar must have between 1 3/4" and 1 13/16" nut. Ideally 2 1/4 or 2 5/16" saddle spacing, but I can also make due with 2 3/16" for an otherwise awesome guitar.

Seller would have to be willing to ship to Europe. I have some experience with this and can help out lots, so don't worry.

I have some trade bait (see below), but would also be willing to purchase outright, given a reasonable price.

The budget seems to be creeping upward every time I write one of these posts. At the moment it's around 5000 Euro / $5500 US. I sold a couple of my guitars to buy the Froggy H12 that's now heading back so I have some extra guitar budget.

The Model K is basically a keeper for me, though I might be interested in using it as trade bait for the right guitar, as the string spacing and neck carve also aren't quite perfect for me, but they're close enough to live with if I never find anything better. It's a standard 1 3/4" nut width and 2 3/16" string spacing at the saddle. The neck shape is a soft V at the neck that moves through a D on the way to the heel. The guitar is from 2016 and the condition is a comfortable "Excellent" on the reverb scale, with a couple small dings in the finish. It's a "limited" trim level with Fiddleback mahogany, so the list price on this one is $12650. I would set a trade value at 55% of that, $7000.

Here are a couple pics, along with the link to the North American Guitar, where it was purchased new (not by me):

I also have a Bourgeois JOMC Custom from 2011 that I could also use as trade bait. This one's pretty standard at 1 3/4" nut width and 2 5/16" spacing at the saddle. Woods are Bearclaw European over Indian Rosewood. It's also in excellent condition.

Trade value at $3300

Default Bump

I'm somehow not surprised that no one wants to sell a Froggy Bottom guitar.

Let's bump this one up to the top just in case.

I wish you the best of luck.

I own an H12 in rosewood with 1 7/8ths nut and 2 3/8ths saddle spacings and while I have played dozens of Froggy Bottom Guitars and seen many more over the years (mostly at Eddie's in St. Louis) as well as participating on this forum for decades - I have never seen another with these spacings. I am not sure another exists.

That said, I love mine and truly wish you the best - 90 or more % of the Froggies out there ares spaced 2 3/16ths at the saddle so if you really looking to a wider nut you should consider the saddle spacing as well - at least for me, 2 3/16ths is uncomfortable tight.

Wow, the mahogany on the K is glorious. Some tasty bait there! Good luck with finding what you're looking for.

Default Looking more actively now

Hey All,

I just notified the TFOA that the Froggy H12 is coming back to them, so I will soon have some liquid cash to buy a different frog.

I have had offers for a P12, an H14, an F12, and an F14. The P12 and H14 are very interesting, but they are in the US, so they are on hold for now. The F12 and F14 are in the UK, and we are looking closely if we can find a deal.

In the meantime, hit me up! I'm especially hoping to find an H12 with a 1 3/4" nut at least. However, hit me up with what you have!

Cheers,
Brian

This seems to fit the description of what you seek exceptionally well:

An H12 I also had stayed only a few days, but I’ve had this one 10 years (since new).

The standard "All PMs responded to" bump. I'm moving towards a deal on a UK based Froggy F14, so please let me know soon if you have anything.

Cheers,
Brian

Lots and lots of nice offers, but nothing that fits just right yet.

Very, very close call on a nice Froggy F14, but the owner wasn't quite ready to sell for the price I was ready to pay, so we put that one on hold for now.

Keep 'em coming!
