Default Charis SJ Swiss Spruce with African Blackwood

Hi all,

I had commissioned a Charis SJ from Bill Wise. This is a special build to me as I have longed dreamed for an African Blackwood guitar. This ABW will be topped with a swiss spruce.

Bill is currently working on this guitar and I would like to share some of the photos.

Cheers!

Drool. Really like AB visually, never played one but would like to. Looking forward to following along!

This guitar will be awesome.

My ABW guitars are exceptional. I like them as much as BRW.

Congratulations on what appears to be a great future guitar. Charis instruments have a really nice aesthetic to them. I've only played a few ABW guitars but I liked the tone that it imparted on all of them. From what I understand ABW is a very dense wood and, typically, is quite resonant. If Bill Wise is listening in perhaps he'll share with us what his approach will be on this instrument in terms of how he plans on thicknessing the back and how that will play in to the overall response of the guitar?

Bill

Great wood choice Mark! My favorite guitar is a Baranik in AB and Italian spruce. The AB contributes to a simply magical tone. I am sure you will like your Charis as much as I like my Baranik.

Bill, your work and guitars always inspire me. You build a beautiful instrument. I've never played one, probably couldn't afford on anyway, but love seeing your build threads.

Congratulations on your new Charis build underway! That is some Beautiful Blackwood paired with the Swiss Spruce. This should not only look phenomenal but I am sure play exceptional as all of Bill Wise's builds do!
