$1B lotto winner last night.
Wow, $1B to a single Mega Millions winner in Michigan last night. I can't comprehend that number except it's not even close enough to purchase the Red Sox or the Patriots. It's far too much for anything and everything else.
What would be on your radar with that? |

I like money as much as the next guy, but nothing good will come from winning $1B.

I'd buy Brucebub's truck, since it has new tires.

In my career in insurance/financial I had 3 lottery winners, and 2 of them died broke.
Net Present Value of $1B is maybe $700m and tax on that would net out at maybe $400m. Would be awfully hard to die broke with $400m but I suppose it can be done. |

We’d enjoy some niceties, but wouldn’t be extravagant in the scheme of things. No monster home(s) or super pricey cars. We love our modest bungalow and small southern vacation home, doubt we’d even move at this point in life.
Travel more. I’d like to take care of close family and friends who have earned it to make their life a little easier, and also be a philanthropist to help the disadvantaged. One indulgence comes to mind...have a small collection of the guitars I’d really like to own, the PA/amps, decent recording gear and a properly appointed room to record in. Likely, I’d hire someone experienced as needed to help produce/engineer my original songs for my own enjoyment/legacy.

Many years ago a lotto winner here in Australia used their winnings to open the first McDonalds in Tasmania - funny thing was the potatoes for all the fries being used by the 'Macca's' on the mainland were grown in Tasmania.

If I won? Well, I might be going to work late, but I'd be leaving early!

I've always wanted a tow truck. I'd buy a tow truck.
