Default What gauge low E on a standard 12 gauge set?

As the question says, what gauge do you like your low E to be at?

I was looking at the new XT strings and they come in .56 or .53

The strings I really like in Phillip Bosset use a .53, and the current strings on my guitar are EB Paradigm 80/20 and they are .54

I'm playing on a Grand Auditorium size if that matters.

Thanks!

The .56 low E string is what’s normally on medium gauge sets. Lights typically have low E strings of .54 or .53.

I've seen .52 to .54 on light-gauge, .56 on a modern "bluegrass" set (in actuality a pre-1972 light-gauge set)...
