Closer . Although it sounds as if it ought to be 4th fret - that's where one would expect a phrase like this to go - it's actually fret 3 (see previous posts). Natural minor, not harmonic minor.
(Your tab sounds better, IMO, but is not what they are playing.)

Hate to start in again considering my prior goof up and mea culpa but it is the fourth fret. I put the tune in my daw and divided up the opening run note by note. If you would like to hear the results of that let me know and I send you a clip. Again, apologies for the prior rant.

i was able to watch it just by clinking on the link. i assumed the private tag meant it was indexed or searchable without the link.

this thread is going epic, however.

you mention earlier about not being able to post a sound file. i could pretty easily use transcribe to export a slowed down version (which i think would be a little better than the audacity file thiseas posted) and put it up on box.com.

but it seems a little like beating a dead riff at this point.

can you put it up publicly for a bit? i hear it pretty clearly as the 3rd fret as well. as i mentioned, i can post a very slowed down (and perhaps pitch shifted up a tone) version.

Yes I would. I'm about to send you a clip of the first 3 notes, slowed down, so we can - er, literally - compare notes.

I'm still saying it's F, not F#, but if I'm wrong I'm prepared to 'fess up here in public.

See pictures and then listen to sound file at the bottom.
1 is a picture of the original wave form.
2 is waveform divided into single notes
3 is tripling each single note to stand out even more clearly
4 is the sound file of 2 and 3.

Unless I am really over due to see an audiologst that third note is a F# (fourth fret). It does sounds a bit flatter on thiseas's clip.
It depends I guess on exactly where you parse the note when repeating it. Make sure by the way your guitar is exactly in tune
with this song if you are relying on the guitar's pitch for the fretted note.
