Am I the only one who finds that just a little creepy?

A liitte?

Super creepo. Add to that I never saw him at the time, only noticed it in the image after the fact. Went by 2 feet from where he was standing at the time.

Sad fact is those woods are filled with homeless, there's a big encampment a mile down highway 9 from that spot.

Snow has been a rare event here for the past several years. When we're fortunate enough to get a storm, I grab the camera and seek out photo ops.

Now summer is back to normal took an easy wander upstream from a popular swimming hole/reserve to Red Rocks just off the edge of suburbia near my home.

After some flooding up till last week the flow's back to normal but somewhat turbid from all the dirt & ash washed in from fire affected areas further upstream.

Prior to a fortnight ago there was barely any running water at all. Just a chain of diminishing pools.

This sheer face is upstream a bit & is well bolted. Being so close to town it's quite a popular destination for local rockclimbers.

Saw plenty of wildlife, many birds, a few wallabies, even an echidna scurrying across the path, by the time I got the camera out it was back in the thick scrub.

The portrait pic is my own, but the flare effect was done entirely in software (faked afterward)

I was recently looking over my entire picture library and remembered I took some decent shots with my first DSLR, in around 2006. It was a Nikon D70. Then, I got nostalgic and wondered if I could find one now cheap just to have fun with and see what I can do. I found a cheap one for about $25 shipped and I had a cheap, not that great, lens lying around I bought a few years ago for $15. So, about $40 in total. I didn't want to spend too much or put $1k of glass on a $25, old camera. It'll probably find its home in my office at work.

Anyhow, here are some pics from this weekend:

Sensors have DRAMATICALLY improved since then and it is not as forgiving as modern cameras. Also, that lens is a subpar lens too. But, all and all, they're actually not that bad for $40.

Here are some pics from my a7iii:

Much more forgiving and much better than the D70, but the D70 will be fun to fool around with at work.

Lovely, spring-like afternoon here in Minnesota. The birds are getting more active, and the finches, in particular, are beginning to show a little colour.
