Amusing/Comedic Songs
Hi all,
I've been asked to perform a 45 minute set at at my local pub during a half way break at a charity fundraising event quiz night being held next month. I know many of the people attending and they can take a joke, so I feel throwing in a couple of (hopefully) funny/amusing ditties would keep the evening flowing. I have a couple of ideas already (one song's a bit suggestive, but not really rude), but I was wondering if any of you could suggest any others I could look into doing? Clever, silly, a bit naughty, it doesn't really matter provided they're songs likely to put a smile on the faces of punters who've had a few drinks. :-) I'd appreciate any help or advice you could give. Best regards to all, Dave

I used to play in a restaurant a few years ago and we always finished with 'Always look on the bright side of life' Guaranteed to get everyone singing.
Or you could have a go at this |

Could depend somewhat on the average age of the audience, but being nostalgic for my (much) younger days how about:
“Delaney’s Donkey” “Paddy McGinty’s goat” Jake Thackray’s “Bantam ****”. [Seems AGF does not approve of male birds!] or When I First Came to this Land, for a sing-a-long Whatever you choose, have fun and I hope it goes well! Regards, Clive. If it isn’t a medical charity you are doing, there is a parody of Cat Stevens song MoonShadow that is quite funny. The song is a twist of medical maladies the over 50 crowd is likely to encounter. Always gets a big laugh. I will try again to post it.

Bet me to it. But I was thinking Smokey Greene's version. He also has one called The Burglar Song.

Steve Goodman had a bunch. One my favorites that wouldn't be too hard to learn - Talk Backwards

John Hartford has a few great numbers that are on the light side...a few that come to mind are Golden Globes (only a bit off color), Mouth to Mouth, I would not be Here, Ladies live such a Long Long Time (opportunity to get the audience involved).
Always Marry an Ugly Girl is an old favorite.
