I Need Some Advice........
I recently purchased a Pre-Peavey GX, a 2007 made guitar which is in very good condition, the only problem is that the pick scratches close to the sound hole are numerous. I would like to put a pick guard on it to help cover most of the scratches, so, which pick guard out there would come close to fitting? I have read that the Martin pick guards were pretty close, but I need some more input and advice prior to buying. Thanks.

I have one of the first post Peavey GXs and play it with a carbon fiber pick.
I consider the scratches and dings to add value and character. Look at what not using a pick guard did for Willy Nelson's Trigger! Just a thought. |

Since the OP is asking about a pickguard to cover scratches, I'm guessing that this is not the look that he's going for...

Depending on how bad the scratches are, they might be rubbed out. And then you might use a clear pick guard like the thin Mylar one sold by Stu Mac which does not detract from the natural face of the guitar. The guard comes in four sheets and you can cut the material to whatever shape best suits your needs.
There are also non-adhesive guards that can be used when needed. |
