What song got you interested in classical guitar?

I added a few of my own variations and, being clueless about recording at the time, I had my pick-up into an amp (all caught on a $50 recorder), which created a lot of reverb!

This tune was also very inspiring for me.

For me it was Romanza or sometimes known as Spanish Romance. No one is given official credit as composer, generally listed as anonymous. Dates to 17th century I seem to recall seeing but not sure on that.

Good to see another guitarist with such an illustrious first name posting here on AGF.
Thought you might be interested in reading an article about Spanish Romance on Wikipedia. While I realize this is not always a reliable source the information

When I was about 13 or 14 I heard a record of Segovia, and was quite taken with it. So much so, that I decided to learn guitar and play classical. Now that was about 50 years ago, and I'm still playing and loving it.

I remember first being captivated by classical guitar listening to a local legend by the name of Dan Mitchell. I was eating at a restaurant and he was playing dinner music and it was amazing. I don't remember any particular piece he played, but the sound was just captivating.

I've been interested since then but I never actually took the plunge beyond a few beginning exercises because I don't know how to read staff notation and I convinced myself that classical was too difficult.

Alas, I'm determined this time. I'm borrowing my girlfriend's inexpensive Lyons by Washburn nylon string student guitar for the time being while I save up for a better classical.
