I admit I was a subconscious guitar snob until I saw what he could do to a crowd with a Little Martin and a looper. I now have two Little Martins.

Forum member Eric Skye inspired me to move to a 00. He does amazing work and crosses a bunch of genres.

Early to mid 1960s Dylan, on a Nick Lucas Special. Tommy Emmanuel’s typical guitars look about 00 size to me.

But the OP’s question is interesting. Most acoustic guitar gods have played 000/OM and bigger, it seems, or they used to.

Ani DiFranco used to do a couple of songs exclusively on a Martin Backpacker... doesn't get much smaller than that.

Edit: Ok, not her main guitar... but since the OP is 8 years old I don't feel too bad about not reading it carefully.

Robyn Hitchcock favors his Fylde Olivia when going acoustic.

Janis Ian uses parlors made for her by Martin, Richard Hoover, and Kevin Ryan. She is a wonderfully talented singer songwriter and a really underrated guitar player in my opinion.

Here she is playing with Diana Jones who also plays a small guitar. Music starts at about 1:05 and they do a fun guitar duet at about 4:17.

Best,
Jayne

Did anybody mention John Meyer? If an OM/000 qualifies for a "smaller guitar"...he plays his OMJM, and also his Signature OMJM-42SC.

He played a Guild M20 with Buffalo Springfield at Bridge School - sounded like Neil.

She's the one. Stephen and Judy had a relationship back in the day.

Observation/Hypothesis: Big acoustics are the equivalent of a big amp backline for electrics. Everything seems to be getting smaller, to target nuance and musical communication, and using a PA to get volume. That has sure happened with large-scale concerts; seems to be happening with on a smaller scale here.

My 1930 0-21 is one of the finest, most balanced guitars I have ever played.

Ed Sheeran recently set the record for having the highest-grossing tour of all time; over $775 million.

Playing a baby Martin. Doesn't seem to be holding him back.

Once you plug in body size doesn't make all that much difference. If anything it helps with feedback. So long as the scale length is comfortable then you're good.
