Default Some questions for the NS players out there

Hi Guys and Gals
I have a 44ce and since getting it from Jim in 2006 I have used Pro Arte high tension strings exclusively.
I were to try the normal tension would I have to adjust the truss rod or not?
Also what strings have you tried that you prefer to the Pro A's?
thanks in advance
Steve

You would likely have to adjust the truss rod by giving it a little more relief. Normal tension won't pull on the neck as much. Then again, it also depends on how much relief is currently in your neck. If you have a little bow, putting on normal tension strings may take out just enough to straighten the neck.

I rather like the Pro Arte strings and haven't really messed much with others. Even used them on my old laminate Rodriguez.

I started using hard tension strings with a wound third string (Doyle Dykes SIg and a few others) instead of the extra hard Pro A. I like the tone; especially with the wound G string. I did not need to do a truss adjustment.

I did meet a performer playing a 34ce who used normal tension but I didn't discuss truss adjustments. Regardless an adjustment would simple.

Was there a particular reason why you did that? The reason I ask is that I've noticed that (at least stock) NS's have a little lower volume on the fretted G and it can be a bit imbalanced because of that. I haven't experimented much with saddle material to see if that helped.

Can't say if you'll need to adjust the truss rod, I'd say try it and see.

But for the record, the difference in tension between different nylon sets is a small fraction of the difference between steel sets. It's only a few pounds total across all 6 strings.

You may not need to fuss with the truss rod.
