Default Cabolt blu X20

Hello carbon based life forms, I'm thinking of ordering a X20 short scale. I saw in one of Methos post a cabolt blue X20, I really liked that color. On contacting Emerald they say its blue on black or blue on silver, the blu on silver is way to bright, but the blu on black does not look like the cabolt blu in Methos pic's. Any knowledge or thoughts. Thanks Mitch.

Colors on silver weave are NOT bright. They only appear bright in photos made in Emeralds studio, which are not realistic at all.

Colors on black weave, which appear as "normal" in Emerald's photoshoots, are in fact barely visible.

When ordering a custom color from Emerald your mileage may vary. I ordered turquoise on silver weave and I got emerald green (green with just a smidge of blue).

I've been fond of the ruby red, had several. The color is subtle but the color reveals itself in almost any lighting and any close look gives you a shot at a pretty fascinating colored weave. For ultra flash you need to go to the woodies.

About to order a green on green X10. I’m expecting it to be a bit darker than the pictures due to their lighting for photos. Any greenie owners out there?

All the artisan colors over black are more sub-dude under certain lighting, but Alistair himself has stated that red and green pop the most of all the colors in all lighting.

Well, I had a red X20 and it didn't "pop" at all in anything but the brightest light. It looked between deep, deep purple and jet black in most lighting short of studio lights and bright direct sunlight...

If I was going to order any color (vs. say a woody or black) I'd order it over silver weave. The colors are just SO dark over the black weave. Especially the blue.

I just measured my X10 which has a 24.6" scale. It is 4" from the nut to the 3rd fret.

For the color discussion: it is red. In typical room light, it is a dark red. Outdoors or under any kind of direct light, it is RED, with black shading at the edges. I am very pleased with the look. I ordered it with the Crystal Ice finish on the back and sides - that seems to absorb more light than the top; I really like the contrast.

Thanks for doing that Jim. My bluerigde is 25.5 scale and it also is 4" nut to 3rd fret. You would think going to 24.6" scale would reduce that mesurement which is what I was after.

Curiosity got me: I measured the X20 with a 25.5" scale and it came out 4 5/16" from the nut to the 3rd fret. My X7, with a 24" scale, measured 3 3/4". Seems about right.

Blue on black. They didn't offer the silver weave back then. That is something that is relatively new.
