Default Just for fun!

Deb and I fooled around with yet some more oldies and I brought this one out of the ether. It's fun to play, especially with the harmonica! Deb's harmonies are a little late in places, but I left them alone because it made it sound spontaneous and improvised, which it was! I have no idea what this song is about, but I like it anyway.

Shanty, written by Jonathan Edwards

I hope you enjoy it!

That was great, Bob! I loved the harmonica in one of your last songs, and was really happy to hear you played it more in this one - sounds great!

Never heard the song, but it has a wonderful, fun feeling. I don't think the vocals have to be perfectly tight on something like this, either - it gives it a more "lively" feel, which suits the words.

Very "dynamic" playing, sounds perfect!

Thanks, Shawlie! That was the way I saw it, too. We can make the harmonies tight, but I kind of like the party sound of a looser arrangement!

Ha, it has been said that if you have a clear memory of it, then you weren't really there! Thank you very kindly for listening and commenting, Dan.

Hey Bob . . . I really enjoyed your rendition of "Shanty". The harmonies you and Deb created sound excellent, the harmonica is a nice touch and you played some tasty guitar licks too. Great song and performance!

By the way . . have you left the Soundclick universe for the world of Box?

Thanks, Steve! We use Soundclick for our originals only because there are issues about putting covers on there without the appropriate licensing and payments. BOX files are private and I am sharing them only as an educational/learning opportunity to a limited group (here) and not for widespread public distribution as would be the case with Soundclick.

Way cool! Way way cool. Sounds like I'm listening to an "old thyme radio show" If only you finished it up with a plug for Ovaltine!

I enjoyed this and love the sound you get on your recordings - everything sounds nicely balanced. How do you record?

Thanks for listening and commenting, Bevelman! We have a fairly austere recording chain; a pair of Ev N/D767s for the guitars and a Rode NT1-A for my vocals into a Yamaha mixer into a Boss BR864 recorder. Mixing and mastering are achieved on the recorder and transferred to computer via USB for disk burning. Deb uses an EV N/D 367 for her vocals and the bass gets plugged directly into the recorder.

Bob,

How did I miss this, very very cool..........I feel happy! A good mood song!!

Put me in the camp for tighter vocals but I can understand the "spontaneous/loose" school of thought too.

Got my feet tappin'..................
