Default Using my Applegate C

I am so glad to see this section.

I got an Applegate C about 3 weeks ago now, and am liking it more and more. It will never replace my steel strings, but makes a great partner.

Playing the guitar is improving my playing. It has a 26 inch scale so it is forcing me to work on my stretching.

I am enjoying the tones I can get out of the guitar. I am discovering some really sweet tones as I play more and more. I am finding some of my music really lends itself to the nylon sound and I like it.

I've always thought it was interesting that steel string guitars of various scales, are all shorter than classical guitars, or nylon string guitars. The long steel string is closer to a 640 mm scale than to a standard 650 mm. Then if you start looking at the old Ramirez guitars, they were 664 mm. Talk about a stretch!

Yeah, I believe mine is a 660 mm scale. I was worried when I ordered it that it would be way too long. The shape of the neck makes it playable. I have to say if I practice on this guitar and the step down my Taylor GC feels very comfortable.

Did you buy it from Dream Guitars? The one they had listed was a very attractive guitar. I am so glad you are enjoying it.

Thanks Toni

Yes, I got it from Dream Guitars. I am really enjoying the guitar. Before I found it, I had dreamed of finding a Myrtle/Engelmann combo. It is beautiful guitar. It has a really great tone and I feel like I am just scratching the surface in learning how to get more tone out of it.

I feel like I got a really nice guitar at a really good price.

Jimmy

They've been on the site for a while in the general section. Here is the link...

http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...ight=applegate

I passed up a Cervantes Crossover for this and so far it is a happy decision. It really would have been a win either way.

Take a look, tell me what you think.

Thanks Jack. We were up at Dream Guitars a few weeks ago and saw the Cerrvantes Crossover but not your Applegate. It is beautiful.

Nice, real nice! It is so rewarding to go with something a little out of the ordinary when it comes to woods & come up with great looks & even better tone.

Thanks Jimmy, Toni

About the only thing I would add to the guitar is I'd like to put a pickup in it. I am leaning towards a K&K. My only question is whether to to pair the SBT with a UST or a mini boom mic. Not sure what I'll do, yet.
