Recomendations for replacment pickups in a squire Waynes World strat
I am looking to replace the pickups in a squire strat. So many choices, and i don't have any experience with any of them. Prior owner has replaced one of them with a seymour duncan and the sound and volume seem out of wack. Suggestions ?

Email SD, tell them what you already have, how/what you play, and ask for suggestions. That would be a start. |

What kind of tone are you going for?
If you want that Stevie Ray beefy mid-range Strat tone you can't go wrong with the Texas Specials. https://shop.fender.com/en-US/parts/...992111000.html If you want a cleaner platform with great clarity and power these imho are the best pickups on the planet. https://jbepickups.com/product/s-styles/ Duncan's are fine picups too. I have one strat like guitar with Duncan Hot Rails which are similar to the Joe Bardens. The humbucker will give you more wiring options too if that's your thing. BUt if you are going for true Strat tone then you want single coils, reverse wound/polarity in the middle is a good idea too. |

are you going with a pre-wired drop in setup?
I agree with texas specials, I have a set loaded in one of my strats. |

Have a look at Tone Rider before you decide, I have renovated several Squires and fitted a variety of their pickups much to the joy of the musicians that bought them.

Hey galkroth, like others mentioned, what kind of music are you looking to play? That will help.
It might be that you have a great Seymour Duncan that meets your needs already in your Squier but there's a wiring/ solder issue. A tech could fix that for you. |

Nothing Seymour Duncan doesn't make in terms of quality pickups (I've put one of their pickups in the middle of my Stratocaster), but Fender also make great pickups. (Custom Shop 54 pickups in the bridge and neck of my Stratocaster).
Having said that, best value for money pickups in my opinion are Wilkinson's. (I put one in the bridge of my Telecaster). |

These have gotten some good press, although I haven't personally tried them:

While you're shopping don't forget to check out Dimarzio tele pickups. Banjo Mike on eBay is a Dimarzio dealer and other brands too. Good prices and FAST shipping. Highly recommended.

In addition to Tonerider and Rose, (I loved the Tonerider Pure Vintage set) check out Bootstrap pickups. Incredible quality, tone and service at prices lower than import Artec/GFS. I've used Bootstrap tele an strat pickups and to be quite honest, they are as good or better than many of the higher priced offerings I've had. A strat set is around $50

I heard of Bootstrap yesterday. I gave my MIM Sunburst Strat to a friend. She had sold her hard tail a while ago and was back in the Strat zone after getting a Tele.
I put the Duncan Everything Axe set in the MIM. She is getting the 54s set and looking for a new pickguard to get the sound back to vintage as opposed to different. Since I have another custom Strat, a Tele, and a Jazzmaster, I have no regrets.
