Yes, the label reads "416ce-R" - definitely rosewood back and sides! I'm not sure what strings came on my Taylor, aside from them being non-coated. They still have some life to them, but when the time comes I may have to try those Elixers you've recommended! FWIW, I'm exclusively a strummer/flatpicker - fingerstyle is something I'd like to learn someday but not something I do now. Still, I like the sound of big-bodied guitars (my bass-playing background probably has something to do with that) which is why the Taylor caught my eye and I'm always open to trying new strings.
