I use the light gauge set on my Godin A6. I have had a problem with getting the definition I want from the bass strings on this instrument. These strings give me the clarity I had been seeking, so they are my current go-to strings.

My wife got me a set for Christmas. I tried them on my hog top Ibanez. They were just so-so on that guitar. I really like DR strings. Rares are the only strings I will use on my RK.

I have a set of lights (.12-.53) on my Seagull. On the cedar top, they're among my favorites. Be sure to use the Xenon pair (B, high E) if they give you a choice.

Great strings. Underrated. Sound great and last a long time. I used them on a Martin that I’ve since sold but they are worth a shot.

Put the Veritas on the D41 and these things will blow your head off! They’re LOUD!! I put the Zenon B and E strings on too and I can tell a huge difference between the Veritas and the GHS Signature Series Bronze mediums it had on it. Like I said, they’re loud and have a great tone to them! It’s brighter, but not brash-sounding like some strings can be if they’re too bright. They feel good on the fingers and based on how long they last, they’ll probably make the permanent strings position for this guitar!!

What's Zenon? Do they come with that set?

I mispelled it. They’re actually called Xenon and the B and E strings are included as extra strings .

I tried one set several years ago. I think it was the same gauge as that is what I normally use. I thought they were terrible. Frankly I don't remember if they just sounded "dead" when I put them on or one of the strings started to come apart but I remember thinking I will not buy buying these again.

And I haven't.

Practiced for an hour today on my D41 and these strings sound killer on my guitar. I hate you had a bad experience with them.

I suspected the ones I had were just an anomaly. I used to buy some DR strings for my electric and I had two "dud" sets in a row, so I sort of moved to other brands. However I use DR Sunbeams and DR Rares and I've been fairly happy with them ... except I did mention earlier that my Sunbeams seemed to have come with a prematurely dull-sounding low E string.

The Sunbeams are round core so you have to be careful to follow their installation instructions to the letter. The Veritas, however, are hex core so I'm not sure why you would have a bad experience with them - DRs were my go-to during my bass-playing days. Admittedly, I've only tried one set of Veritas but it was a good one.

No, I followed correct procedure for installing the Sunbeams and it was only the low E string that seemed prematurely or nearly dead. On my electrics, the defective string was the "A" string in two different sets.

I've played many brands during my bass-playing days ... but no DRs and I don't remember any of my fellow bass players playing them , but they may have. We just never discussed DR bass strings.
