Default Emerald Zero Fret?

Have any of you ordered a zero fret Emerald guitar? I really like the zero fret concept, but have no idea whether Allistair does them, or whether it would be an additional cost above the cost of the 25.6” short-scale neck. Since I don’t care about the overall length of the guitar, it would seem there would be a bit of space available for a zero fret.

You could try something like this and then change back if you didn't like it.

Zero Glide
Yeah, I’ve seen those advertised. They look like a viable alternative to an actual zero fret. I’m not too handy, so I’d have to have someone install.

It’s exactly different with Zero Fret. Backward it says “cheap guitar”. Or so I’m told.

That’s just my odd sense of humor Otter. I was trying to put a spin on Kramsters “backwards spelling” post. There are some very fine high end guitars with zero frets. Unfortunately, not too many.

Now back to regularly scheduled posting. I’m wondering why the dozens-hundreds of folks who have zero fret Emeralds aren’t chiming in. Did I offend them with my previous “cheap guitar” (attempt at) humor?

Consider me chastised. For penance, I’ll keep my Lucky 13 in its case with a humidipack and humidistat for a week.....

Pointless? POINTLESS???? I think not.

I’m hoping this will get rid of the “belly bulge” I read about over on the Martin forum. I’ll report back when I can see my feet again......

Just use a mirror like I do after a wee bit... ok a bunch of.. ice-cream ... but then I try not to look at my feet...and just hope they are there as that would explain my ability to walk over to a handy CF guitar and have at it.

Not on my CF guitar, but I put a zero glide on my parlor. Easy install, I personally think they're great.

I really like the idea of the zero fret, but was thinking it would be nice to have a true zero fret, as opposed to the retrofit.

The X10 is already different from most acoustic guitars:
  • Ergonomic body shape
  • Carbon Fiber material
  • Sound hole placement
  • Stainless Steel frets
  • Humbucker
  • Ghost Bridge
  • (Zero Fret)

I thought adding the Zero Fret to the list would make for a guitar that should never need adjustment for most of us, except for maybe the truss rod.

I was also wondering if anyone sees how you would adjust intonation on the new bridge? Is it like an electric with each string adjustable?

I came across an old short video of before and after Zero Glide on a Cargo.

Since the Journey leans toward significant bass like the Cargo does, I will get the Zero Glide and give it a try. I'm thinking it will be a good combination with the Journey, at least for my ears. About $21 for the 3/4 inch nut version on Amazon. Cheap experiment.
