SOLD! 1951 MARTIN 000-18 No cracks, original finish!!
SOLD 6/14.
Martin 000-18 made in mid 1951. A lovely stock example with all original finish and no cracks. Original Kluson tuners, pickguard, and a beautiful and straight neck with strong frets. Brazilian RW fingerboard, bridge and headstock overlay. Sounds like a great 67 year old Martin should- dry, woody and very resonant. Plays smoothly with plenty of sparkle and punch. Feather light with a beautiful golden patina. It's the real deal. I am not the original owner(duh), and have made no modifications other than string changes. Close inspection reveals that the bridge has been reglued sometime in the past, but appears to be original and unshaved. The saddle is likely original and taken down somewhat. No clear evidence of any recent neck reset, and it doesn't appear to need one immediately. It plays very nicely as set up. There is a very small filled screw hole in the shoulder likely from an old strap button. Other than that, the guitar shows the expected and typical wear from pick rash, minor scratches, dings and dents. Overall it's very clean and original. Comes to you in a nearly new, Martin/TKL Harptone style case with green interior as supplied with the Authentic line. Really nice. $SOLD No trades please! It's priced for fast sale. PM me. It's actually a year off my birth year, but it's really hard to find a guitar of around this vintage with original finish and no cracks for a reasonable price!
This little piece of Martin history is still available. |

Martin 1951
Kiva.............
Oh my. This is a wonderful specimen and piece of history. Martin only made about 5k guitars a year during the 1950's. I love this one. Great condition and pedigree, but I was born...........1954 and have been searching for just the right '54. I have an amazing 1898 0-18 arriving tomorrow........"orange top" brw.........remember they made 0-18's with brw until 1917. This one is amazing and comes with coffin case. Still looking for the right 1954. Good luck with sale. Amazing nobody has scooped up this one. For those not familiar with Kiva.............wonderful seller and guy! I've purchase a few and they ALWAYS exceed what he represents. The guy knows his guitars and only deals in top tier "stuff". If you have any inclination towards his 1951........JUMP and love it! Robbypad..........I've had a few good ones too.

Bruce,
Thanks for the kind words. As for it being scooped up, there have been two offers just today, so I guess some Forumites know a bargain when they see one. Easy way to get into the vintage Martin world without breaking the bank. Still available at the moment. John |
