Joni Mitchell wrote "Urge For Going" early in her career but it never made it to an album until the early recording was put on "Hits And Misses." Tom Rush did record his version of it in the 1960's and you may have heard that. Here's my version.

Tood, great job and great harmonies (as always)! I'm not familiar with the original but I'm sure you lived up to it.

Daria, that was fantastic!! Every note is crisp, clear, and flawless. I was mesmerized.

Do you perform in public a lot?

Thanks for the kind words regarding the Brandi cover.....

I came back in from a leaf raking marathon this morning and had this song in my head. Hadn't played it in a good long time, but I figured I could pull it off. The hands were a bit stiff from the raking though

Folks ask me a lot if I like country music, and my reply is "yes, there are many TRADITIONAL country songs I really like.

This is one of my all time faves - Kathy Matthea - Late In The Day (written by Tim O'Brien)

Fitness. Just great.

I am adding one more gender bender as well - also a Gillian Welch. This is Revelator. I played it Capo1, but I am thinking I may re do it without a capo, as the harmony is a stretch for me. You should have heard me cough...

Thanks, Dru. Not much yet, but I hope to perform more in the future.

Here's a quick take on "Go to Sleep You Little Baby" originally by Allison Krauss, Gillian Welch, and Emmylou Harris from the movie Oh Brother Where Art Though.

Somewhere along the way, CNN decided to send me a notification. Sorry about that!

One last posting for me for this month:

Loretta Lynn's Coal Miner's Daughter. This was just me and the Guild D40 Bluegrass Jubilee, recording into the Zoom H4N.

Todd, that's a great gender bender song, well done! I have a friend in the US who is a huge Loretta Lynn fan and has seen her a dozen times (if not two dozen). He even bought one of her dresses at a charity auction a few years back. I'm sure he'd appreciate your rendition.

Ok - last entry for the month...

Although I've been a Mary Chapin-Carpenter fan for a good long time, I'd never heard this tune until last evening when my friend Karen Barker (Gilliangirl) posted on Facebook that she was learning it. I quickly figured it out and taught it to one of my students. I liked it so much I decided to record it this afternoon between clients. Rhythm of the Blues.....

Thanks Dru! I had a lot of fun with it.
