Default Scarlet Begonias Grateful Dead cover duet with my boy on lead

This years Dead Cover Project seems to be audience and submissions only. The dead.net site is silent but that has not stopped many of us from submitting to the 11th year of this February event.

This song is one of my favorites and my son and I played it an hour before he headed back to school with my wife on iphone video duty. His lead starts at 1:42.

The story goes that Jerry was trying to get an upbeat groove for the song influenced by Paul Simon’s Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard.

If you like our version, give it the thumbs up on YT. Thanks for listening.

I will listen tonight, but still gave you boys an anticipatory thumbs up

If someone twisted my arm I guess I would have to say Fire/Scarlet is my favorite dead jam. I have a buddy who does it in his solo acoustic act, no looper, that is quite a feat!

Can't wait to listen!

Well, I gave you two a Thumbs-Up! Very nice job on this! What fun, playing with your son before he heads back to school!

Great job, Joe!

I gave you a thumbs up and a comment, lol. Of course, you know I love that tune and the jam, and it's awesome to see the two of you making music. I have got to get my son to accompany me on something we can record.

Thanks Bob hope you enjoyed it. We also recorded “deal“ and maybe I’ll put that up in the next day or two. Thanks for the thumbs up!

Awesome, thank you!

The best part of this is you are playing with your kid. I hope that I can do this in the not-to-distant future.
