Default Finish Repair Problem

I used super glue to repair crack on my guitar and there is a cycle around it but I can feel the surface was pretty flat by touching it.

Can someone teach why did it happen and how to get it fixed..

Many thanks..

It happened because the guitar wasn’t painted with superglue.

The trick with repairing is understanding the finish that is on the guitar and matching the repair process to suit the finish, even then differences will occur with light reflection subject to the gloss level.

Apart from that, some comments, the fill you have done does not extend into the existing top, the shiny ring around the fill is where a void still exists between the two materials. Recommend spraying a satin finish over the area when finished to minimise the visual impact or take it to someone to redo

What you see is the edge of the superglue as the two types of materials will not blend together.

First you should have prepped the area you were going to repair by scuffing it a bit. That would give a blend zone for the buffing so the halo would be less noticeable.

CA never makes an invisible finish repair, though most look better than this.

In addition to what the experts did explain, just another thing to remember:

the clear finish on your guitar is one material. The clear CA glue is another material. Even if they meet perfectly, they are different transparent materials and there will be refraction at the boundary.

Mirwa's comment that your guitar was not finished with CA glue is what I am explaining further.

B. Howard's comment about a scuff zone is the spread this out into a miniature region instead of just a sharp line where the two different clear materials meet.

You can see the boundary between perfectly clear water and air because of the refraction caused at the boundary.

Similarly, you can have perfectly clear liquids (say glycerine or mineral oil) and water and still see the boundary where they meet.
