All this tech just to get a bit better guitar porn? They are beautiful, indeed, but they are tools!
I see the same stuff with sound clips. Some sound better than others, but none sound like the axe in my lap! Never. Not even with my $300 studio cans on... Oh, well... Everyone tune up and play pretty! Cheers Paul

Ok...I know it's been a while on this Bubinga guitar, but it's finally coming together. Hopefully it will be singing loudly as the first "shop" guitar next week!
I'll start you off some shots of getting the next ready to put on the body. The first one is Steve wet-sanding the peghead that is topped with some wildly red Indian Rosewood (sold as Brazilian but that's another story). ![]() Next is Steve attempting the wonderful but always dangerous step of buffing out a neck on our homemade buffer. Don't ask if anything has been thrown down to the concrete floor before. Everyone loves that high shine, and we aim to get it! ![]() The plan is to get the neck installed on the body today! More pics will follow shortly. |

Looks like Steve has got a war wound on one of his fingers?
I follow the whole process of the bridge, but do you hand carve the pyramid portions and if so, how do you get them so even from end to end? It looks great.

![]() To your point on carving bridges on the English Brown Oak thread. Patience really. Steve has a set height he wants it to hit and works with rasp, file, and sandpaper to get it there. He's much more of a sculptor than I. I need many markings to make it halfway match, but Steve's eye and skill trumps mine every time. |

As promised, the neck got on yesterday. Here's a shot of Steve cleaning up glue squeeze out. The buying public insists on clean tops for some reason, so we do it.
![]() ![]() Then a gratuitous side angle shot to show how it's clamped together. ![]() Almost have this thing built. |

Probably not completely the same, but I remember my days as a carpenter when I would hit my nail and I would take a small drill bit and drill through my fingernail to relieve the pressure....good old days....

Steve, Ryan, what are those wedge things at the end of the fretboard extension, if I may ask? Pat |

Pat, those wedge things add a bit of downward pressure for the corners of the fretboard at glue up. Since the last fret is not installed yet, this step helps to hold down the very end.

You guys do such lovely work and I love the fun that goes along with it. Not to mention the work photographed with the benefit of seeing the attentive workers hard at it.
Beautiful guitars from great guys. Can't think of a better combination. ![]()
