Default Problem with 1st string pull-offs

I'm having a problem with pull-offs on the first string. I try to pull off sideways, but always end up with a downward motion that pulls the string over the edge of the neck, creating an odd sound. This usually happens when I'm fretting both the first and second string at the same fret and have to pull off on the first. I have no problem with pulloffs on other strings.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Sometimes it's possible to get a nice clean pull-off without pulling down (towards the floor) so much. Taylors are particularly helpful because they ring so nicely, especially on the B and E (high) strings. Change the angle of the pull-off. Practice pulling slightly out (as if you were simply removing your finger, with just the slightesy downward angle).

Pulling-off is a "Technique". In order to get it right . . . PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

Anothersmith,

What kind of model and fretboard do you have?

I had the same problems with my 815 (1999) with original whideness on the fretboard (I think it was narrower width on the fretboard before).

I couln´t understand what I do for wrong. At a couple of the songs I played where I had to pull off or just fret the little finger, I slip down with the string.

When I got my 612 with a little bit wider fretboard (1 3/4") the problem was over.

The main problem with the 815 was that the fretboard was to narrow and the edge was rounded a little bit more than a 410 I compare with.

I have a K22, but I've been trying to use less pressure, as Brettster suggested, and I'm getting better at it.
