Question for Strat owners.
What strings do you use on your strat. What strings do you find work well on a strat? do you experiment with different brands or is there one particular brand that you stick to?

I use mostly D'Addario EXL Nickel Round wound strings on my strats, usually 10s, but I have purchased some 11 sets to see how they work for me, also. I will also be trying the 11s on my Telecaster.
I have been using 12s on my acoustic 6-strings, 10s on my electrics. Lately I have been curious to see how 11s work for me, since they would be a little closer to what I use on an acoustic. I do use 12s on my archtop jazz guitar. I'm also going to try 11s on that guitar. - Glenn

DR Blues 10-46. Strictly personal preference. They’re round core. I’ve played those on every electric I’ve had in the past 3 1/2 years since I first tried them. But I’m a strat guy - Ihave two electrics and play the strat 90+% of the time...

.010s on all my electrics except for the Ibanez RG which has .009s. Gilmour-like bends (minor and even major thirds!) get a bit hard with anything heavier than .010s but I like the tone from .010s.
Brand wise I’m not particularly loyal to any company though I tend to use Elixir nanos for longevity! Thanks to Corona I haven’t had to change strings for months and they’re still fresh...

I don't want them to feel much different than my acoustics. I've had an endorsement with D'Addario since 1976. Howard Emerson

I have a pretty light touch, and like 9-46 strings, usually D'Addario.

All my electric guitars get D'Addario EJ21 12-52 with a wound G. They feel just like my acoustic guitars. I don't do many string bends.

Ernie Ball 10's - the lime green package. I like how they bend.

I have 9's on my Stratocaster which I'm okay with, but will put 10's on it (per my Telecaster) when it's time to restring. (Something I put off for as long as I can).
I don't have a preferred brand. (More selective with acoustic strings). Last edited by Steel and wood; 02-14-2021 at 07:10 AM. |

I use D'Addario Chrome flatwounds,(ECG24) on my strat, 11-50 with a wound 3rd. They sound and feel great!
