Default Where you guys getting your rockwool from?

Every place around me requires a minimum of 3 bag purchase(some require a whole pallet)...any leads? I'm in the Denver area.

Really depends on the place. I found one in Fort Collins, L&W Supply, who would order one bag (12 batts) for me; cost under $200 iirc [edit: of OC703]. Seems like there ought to be somebody in Denver metro who'd do a slightly smaller order.

You can get Safe'n'Sound at some Lowe's. It's in the 15" width and not rigid, but works well with a bit of framing. 12 batts are a bit over $50.

Like Keith, I got my Rock Wool at Lowes. One package with 12 batts 15" X 4' for $54.
I just finished my absorption panels, clouds, and corner traps this week. I used the S&S in the corner traps and on one wall panel. I used Knaulf Earth Wool in the clouds and two wall panels.

Check out:

These are precut pieces as to length, width, and thickness.

If you're just talking about number of packages, the Lowes here has Safe'n'Sound in stock. I just pulled up Arvada and they've got 47 packages in stock, 12 batts per pack. Just walk in an buy as much as you need. (Edit: only 42 packages. Better hurry! ) Edit again: Now I see the "Min Qty of 3" you're talking about. That may just be for internet order or delivery. Go in person and you ought to be able to buy just one.

OP, if they have it in stock at a local Lowe's, the minimum doesn't apply, because you don't *order* it, you just go there and buy however many bundles you want and can fit in your vehicle. (Tip: 1 bundle will pretty easily fit in the backseat of a Buick Regal.)

That gets pretty pricey real quick if you go 4” deep in clouds and the corner traps take quite a bit. Plus the most of us have to ship it and those charges add up real quick. If you can get this locally in the narrower batts that is the way to go IMO.

Some Do It Best hardware can order in Roxul Rockboard. The cheapest price would be a commercial insulation supplier that would sell to the public.

If you get 16" X 4' ft they will just be narrower
My local lumber yard which is member of "Do It Best" was able to order just one bag of 24" X 4" S&S with no shipping charge, for about $55 -$60 for 8 pack bag. There are no doubt a number of Do It Best member stores in the Denver Metro area

Yes. Keep in mind the 16” batts actually work better for corner traps. You can really make the wall panels any size you want.

The Safe'n'Sound material cuts very nice and cleanly with a sharp, finely serrated blade. You can slice one lengthwise down the middle to get approx. 24" wide (16+8). It might actually glue together with some spray adhesive - never tried, but I'd probably give it a shot (NPI).

I also used a bit of "baling wire" (sold in blister-pack coils at your big-box home improvement site) in an X over the front/back to hold the stuff in place in a frame before covering, in case there's any concern. I don't think it's necessary for panels that are fastened to a wall, but definitely recommended for overhead "clouds." Moveable gobos might be another place to consider doing that. I actually framed by double-wides, but you can see the wire in the attached pic.

What a good idea for cloud panels
