Default Keith Richards shows his five-string technique

Came across this last night. If the guitar belonged to the interviewer, he did a good job of not showing how much he must have been freaking out.

That's so hilarious. The guy has been playing guitar for 60 years and still can't change a string

Really?

Friend: "Where did that cut into the finish of your guitar come from?"

Me: "Oh, that's from that time when Keef gave me a private lesson on 5-string Open G..."

We should establish a new term to compete with the Hip-Hop crowd: String-Cred"

If you play guitar for 60 years successfully enough you have "people" for that

I’ve never had any real interest in the kind of polished, intricate playing so many folks around here are so good at (TOTAL respect for that BTW, I just never aspired to it), but I’d give up pretty much anything (except my family) to play even half as loose and funky as Keef. I play a lot of Stones stuff on acoustic now - I played a lot of their stuff in open G on electric when I was young and playing out a lot. I could play the notes and chords, but his feel is really elusive. When I nail it for a few seconds here and there, it makes my week. I wouldn’t trade lives with the guy, but I’d love to play like that...
